Evolution of pain management market in India: Challenges and Opportunities
Pain represents one of humanity's most fundamental medical challenges, affecting millions yet only recently becoming better understood through advances in medical science. Chronic pain is defined as pain that persists for three months or more and can significantly impair an individual's quality of life, leading to physical limitations, emotional distress, social isolation, and addictions. Comorbid depression and anxiety frequently accompany chronic pain yet often go undiagnosed and untreated. Additionally, individuals with chronic pain face an elevated risk of suicide. Chronic pain affects approximately 20% of India's population — roughly 270 million individuals — with an additional 25 million people developing chronic pain conditions annually. The scale of this healthcare challenge is immense, yet it remains insufficiently addressed.
